Every word has a story.

Thank You, America

Thank You, America

I first opened up my eyes beneath these stars so bright, But life would take me far away before I knew this light. Across the sea I learned to dream beneath another sky, Yet something kept on calling me, a place I had to find. Twenty-five years later, I finally came back home, Not to where I was raised, but where my heart belonged. Red, white and blue, forever flying free, Waving in the summer wind means everything to me. From the southern pines to the Atlantic shore, Every mile I travel makes me love this country more. The western mountains still are waiting there for me. Thank you, America, for welcoming me. I've driven country highways underneath the Texas sun, Found strangers who became my friends before the day was done. I've watched the sunrise paint the fields in colors bold and true, And every road reminds me why I fell in love with you. No matter where tomorrow leads, these roads will carry me. I've found a place where hope still lives and dreams can still be free. I'll always hold this grateful heart for all you've helped me see. Thank you, United States of America, for welcoming me. Red, white and blue, forever flying free, Waving in the summer wind means everything to me. From the southern pines to the Atlantic shore, Every mile I travel makes me love this country more. One day I'll see the western mountains reaching to the sky. Until then I'll wave this flag with gratitude and pride. Thank you, America, for welcoming me.
